#NDI09 I’m interested in the points raised concerning raising awareness and public engagement in the health service. There’s two points I would like to raise:
One, who in the NHS will be doing the engaging, will it be an external consultancy firm brought in to bridge the gap between traditional engagement approaches and newer emerging social media engagement? Or will the nurse, support worker, volunteers, Occupational Therapist etc be using the technologies to reach out?
Secondly, it would be fantastic to see a volunteer force embedded within healthcare teams, trained to be ethically safe citizen journalists, helping to bridge the divide between the organisation and the public, using a range of medias and languages to suite a diverse range of people.
This would of course require a radical shift into the use of blogging within the NHS and the position from which the reporting is being done.
